Change begins with us but we also need structures to support our initiatives!

1. AmeriGeo Week 2024 held the youth-led session “Adapting for a resilient future with Earth Intelligence”. Proximity was represented by Matea Cañizares, who shared a method to use open data to assess environmental conditions that influence human health. The original research article was published in Cities & Health (Keeping it cool) and won the Resilient Futures Award from Forecasting Healthy Futures!

2. Our director, Matea Cañizares, is a member of the Youth Advisory Panel (YAP) that sits within The Lancet Child & Adolescent Health’s International Advisory Board (see the announcement and my profile here), where she will serve until 2027.

3. The Minister of Education and her team have welcomed our policy recommendations for reforming school infrastructure standards.
